Winter in Tále: three resorts, one base, and a ski room right outside your door

Ski Tále is 1.5 km from your door (3 minutes by car), Mýto pod Ďumbierom 3 km, and the big Jasná – Chopok juh 9 km, so 11 minutes. Three completely different resorts, one bed. And the point isn't how many places you can reach — it's that every evening you come back to the same calm spot.

Start easy. Ski Tále is a family resort on the southern side of Chopok, just past the village of Bystrá — mostly medium-difficulty red runs, few blue ones, so kids and slightly advanced skiers feel right at home and the more skilled will find tougher black slopes too. There's a ski school and a nursery, kids' lifts, a children's corner, and snowtubing on inflatable rings. And when it gets dark at four, evening skiing on the floodlit run adds another hour or two on a half-empty slope. Three minutes by car and you're there — you can easily pop back to the apartment for lunch.

On day two, try Mýto pod Ďumbierom, 3 km further on. It's a smaller, easier resort at the southern foot of the Nízke Tatry — the longest lift is roughly 1,460 metres and takes you up to just under 900 m a.s.l. Mostly easy to medium slopes, evening floodlights, fewer people than in Jasná. The ideal day when you want to calmly rack up the kilometres without queues or stress — and when someone in the group still has shaky legs.

And when the ones who want a big mountain show up, you hop in the car for 11 minutes and you're in Jasná on Chopok juh. The largest resort in Slovakia — both sides of Chopok together offer around 45 to 50 km of groomed runs and almost twenty cable cars and lifts, from complete beginners to advanced. For the 2025/2026 season a new cable car was added that gets you to the top of Chopok in about 11 minutes. The southern side opens from the base stations Krupová and Srdiečko with a transfer at Kosodrevina — one day here will properly tire out even experienced skiers.

And now what makes Tále a base, not just an address: a ski room right in the apartment. Wet ski boots, frozen gloves, and skis don't end up in the car or the hallway — you leave them downstairs in the dry and set off ready in the morning. Add a fully equipped kitchen for when you don't feel like a restaurant, and your own parking right by the house.
