The Tatra Electric Railway (TEŽ) links Štrbské Pleso, Smokovec and Tatranská Lomnica — a whole day in the mountains with no car, no scramble for parking, and no stress over full car parks.
From Vila Mudroň in Dolný Smokovec it's 250 m to the TEŽ stop. Buy a day ticket and set off for Štrbské Pleso in the morning — the relaxed loop around the lake takes 45 minutes. The railway runs roughly every 30–60 minutes, so there's no need to rush.
At lunchtime, head the other way to Tatranská Lomnica: from there a cable car carries you up to Skalnaté Pleso and, on a clear day, a cabin takes you onward to Lomnický štít (book your slot in advance). On the way back, hop off at Starý Smokovec for a coffee, and a few minutes later the railway has you home. No car, no parking.
