Getting to Štrbské Pleso is easy even without a car. From Poprad and the other Tatra settlements you can reach it by the Tatra Electric Railway (TEŽ), which runs regularly throughout the day. If you come by car, keep in mind that the car parks fill up quickly at weekends – it pays to set off early in the morning.
The best time to visit is the morning, when the light is at its finest and there are fewer people. Don't forget warm layers, a hat, gloves and sunglasses – the reflection of the sun off the snow can be intense. A thermos with hot tea will be welcome at every stop, and sunscreen for your face is also a good idea.
